چکیده

High dynamic range (HDR) imaging has become a powerful tool in computer graphics, and is being applied to scenarios like simulation of different film responses, motion blur, and image-based illumination. The HDR images for these applications are typically generated by combining the information from multiple photographs taken at different exposure settings. Unfortunately, the color calibration of these images has so far been limited to very simplistic approaches such as a simple white balance algorithm. More sophisticated methods used for device-independent color representations are not easily applicable because they inherently assume a limited dynamic range. In this paper, we introduce a novel approach for constructing HDR images directly from low dynamic range images that were calibrated using an ICC input profile.

High Dynamic Range Imaging of Natural Scenes

The ability to capture and render high dynamic range scenes limits the quality of current consumer and professional digital cameras. The absence of a well-calibrated high dynamic range color image database of natural scenes is an impediment to developing such rendering algorithms for digital photography. This paper describes our efforts to create such a database. First, we discuss how the image...

Validation of Color Managed 3D Appearance Acquisition

Image-based appearance acquisition algorithms are able to generate realistic 3D models of real objects but have previously not taken care of calibrated color space. We integrate a color managed high-dynamic range imaging technique into a recent appearance acquisition algorithm and generate models in CIE XYZ color space. We compare the final models with spectrophotometric measurements and comput...

Unbounded Color Engines

A Color Matching Method (CMM), also called a Color Engine, is a software component that does the color conversion calculations from one device's color space to another. This paper discuses a new working mode for CMMs that allows such software components to operate in a way that is not restricted by the gamut of the device encoding, the gamut of the profile connection space or any intermediate s...

Color Matching with ICC Profiles - Take One

The introduction of ICC-based color management solutions promises a multitude of solutions to graphic arts imaging needs. To those of us who have been involving in the technology of graphic arts imaging, the best way to understand the performance of CMS is to test it. We decided to focus our initial effort on color matching aspects of the ICC profiles. To test the degree of color matching, a nu...
